THE AADHAAR LEAK WHICH MAKES WORSE FEARS COME TRUE

A public online dashboard on a website maintained by the Andhra Pradesh government allows anyone with an internet connection to use “religion” or “caste” as a search criterion to identify the homes of 5,166,698 families in 13 districts in Andhra Pradesh. The vulnerability was first spotted by Srinivas Kodali, a security researcher.

On using the dashboard, HuffPost India found the precise latitude and longitude of homes inhabited by Muslim families, Dalit families, Hindu homes and even Zorastrian families.

The dashboard uses Aadhaar numbers as a unique identifier to compile detailed information about beneficiaries of a widely-promoted government subsidy programme.

Even after repeated claims by the Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) that Aadhaar data can never be used for surveillance or to track religious and caste information, this new data leak of sensitive information is likely to bring the authenticity of the nodal agency’s regulations on data protection under question.

RSS MAN BEHIND SC PIL ON JUDGE LOYA CASE

A man close to Bhayia Ji Joshi of RSS-Suraj Lolage was instrumental in creating conditions for shifting the case from Bombay High Court to Supreme Court on 27th November via PIL 2 get a suitable verdict from Chief Justice Supreme Court Shri Dipak Mishra.

Sibal alleged that Lolage was an RSS and a BJP worker and gave records of his conversations with the brother of RTI activist Satish Uke. He said Lolage also sought a party ticket for contesting civic polls and he was instigated by RSS leader Bhayyaji Joshi to file the PIL before the Supreme Court.

“What does this show? Clearly, Bhaiyyaji Joshi and the RSS were very keen that this matter be heard in the Supreme Court as quickly as possible because they are the ones who initiated the Public Interest Litigation,” Sibal said.

“There are two possibilities. Either Bhaiyyaji Joshi of the RSS wanted that an enquiry into judge Loya’s death be conducted or wanted an outcome which ensures that the matter is closed without an enquiry.”

“With the facts now being placed before you, it is for the people of India to decide what the motive of RSS was,” he said.

ICC MAKES BIG CHANGES & OLYMPIC PROMISE

Cricket likely to be part of Olympics by 2028: ICC Chief Executive David Richardson

Optimistic ICC Chief Executive David Richardson on Thursday kept hopes of cricket’s inclusion in Olympics by 2028 buoyant as he expressed, “We can’t go to Paris. But we have continued our talks with IOC and with LA in due course, hopefully by 2028 we will have cricket in the Olympics.” Cricket has not been played at the Summer Games since it featured only once in Paris 1900

The ICC chose to convert the 2021 Champions Trophy scheduled in India into a World T20 event, thus scrapping the eight-team ODI tournament. Its context and relevance has been questioned repeatedly and at the end of its board meeting, ICC Chief Executive Dave Richardson said the global body has “unanimously agreed” that the 2021 meeting in India would now be a 16-team event in the Twenty20 format.
