MORNING NEWS AUDITORIAL | 13th August, 2019

Good Morning,

And welcome back to the Morning News Auditorial. Yesterday was World Elephant Day and India was busy with Bears and Crocodiles until India’s most important meeting took place, that is the Reliance Annual General Meeting.

TALES OF MODI’S POVERTY AND BRAVERY

Before we go ahead, I would want to start with the best story I heard yesterday.

Grylls’s remark that the river was full of crocodiles prompted Modi, wearing a cap and mackintosh, to tell him how as a poor boy, with no bathroom at home, he used to bathe in a pond every day. Apparently, one day, he found a baby crocodile and took it home, but his mother scolded him and told him to return the animal to the river.

Only if Mother Modi would tell Bal Narendra to do the same with Kashmir. But her, Daddy has spoken and I want to say this to our brothers and sisters in Kashmir, that all will be well, Mukesh Bhai, Reliance Industries Ltd Chairman on Monday said the company will create a “special task force” for Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh.

AMBANI’S SPECIAL TASK FORCE FOR KASHMIR

Mr Ambani’s comments on Ladakh and Jammu and Kashmir today came while he was addressing shareholders of Reliance Industries and announcing a 20 per cent stake to Saudi Aramco in one of the largest foreign investments in the country.

“(This is) the biggest foreign investment in the history of Reliance. It is also amongst the largest foreign investments ever in India.”

Saudi Money in, where are the bhakts, and the bhakt channels, or wait a minute, you know who owns them. Ambani, like literally, not the BJP although it is tough to separate the close links between the two. But at least there is hope for Kashmiris, mobile & Internet will be restored in J&K once Jio optic fibre is ready.

FOLDED MIRACLE

It is 13th August, and no there was no happy eid for Kashmiris or a happy Monday for many citizens across the country. While citizens of one state were locked down in their own homes due to an unnatural and forced emergency, people in other states had to leave their home.

So let’s start from the top. Kashmir. And sorry if that makes you a tad bit uncomfortable. Not saying that what P Chidambaram said was right, but there was lots of truth in it, way more than there was meat in Doval’s biryani.

“If J-K was a Hindu-dominated state, the BJP would not have done this. They did it only because the region is dominated by Muslims,” the former union minister alleged.

Now BJP is very angry with PC, not Priyanka, but P Chidambaram, for saying it out loud.

Here I will take a break and say a few lines from this an untitled poem written and recited by Zubair Rashid on Monday at Jantar Mantar Road. Folded Miracle is the pen name of Rashid.

Wired roads, locked doors, suppressed joy in the lanes of the paradise dominate,

Blocked lines, blood and no screams in the lanes of the paradise define fate,

there’s a mother waiting for her son and the son is carrying motherland’s weight!

Oh the stars concealed by light, tell my mom that I miss her day and night,

tell her patience, patience, patience, Patience will defeat the might!

AFTER ROBOT RAJNIKANTH SAYS MODI-SHAH DUO KRISHNA –ARJUN, ALAGRI SAYS MORE LIKE DURYODHANA –SHAKUNI

And now back to servitude and the award goes to robot Chitti, aka Rajnikanth for not just being HMV but also sing paeans to the duo. Amit Shah and Modi Ji are like Krishna-Arjuna combination. They only know who’s who. Said Rajnikanth. Tamil Nadu Congress Committee on Monday hit out at actor-turned-politician Rajinikanth. KS Alagiri said, “It is surprising to hear Rajini’s comments on scrapping Article 370. Rajinikanth seems to have confused spirituality with religion…Modi and Amit Shah are like Duryodhana and Shakuni and not like Krishna and Arjuna as they have snatched the rights of the people.”

This is also when I tell you about Vijay Sethupathi a successful Tamil actor. At the peak of his stardom, he has given his voice against the BJP Govt and for the oppressed Kashmiris. He has a real spine unlike that robot.

KISKE RAM? LUV-KUSH CLANS BATTLE OUT TO PROVE WHO IS LEGITIMATE HEIR TO RAM’S HOME-AYODHYA

We could actually be entirely wrong and It could happen that the duo is actually a descendant of the gods, maybe Supreme Court can ask and check and confirm like it is doing with the ancestors of Ram to prove that Babri Masjid was right to be demolished since the house belonged to Lord Ram and is his birthplace.

After Rajasthan’s erstwhile royal families of Jaipur and Mewar claimed to be descended from Lord Ram in response to the Supreme Court’s query, a state Congress spokesperson has also claimed the distinction, saying his clan are “the real descendants” of the Hindu deity.

“The Raghav Rajputs are the real descendants of Ram,” Satendra Raghav contended.

“The kingdom of Luv spread towards North Kaushal which comes under Ayodhya now while (Lord Ram’s younger son) Kush spread his empire in South Kaushal which comes under Chhattisgarh. On page 1,671 of the ‘Ramayana’, it is said that Badgujar clan came from Luv,” said Raghav, a relative of late former Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat.

Meanwhile, Jaipur princess and Rajsamand MP Diya Kumari, who had on Saturday, tweeted that the descendants of the Hindu god “are all over the world”, on Monday again reiterated that her family has descended from Lord Ram’s son Kush.

Close on the heels of the Jaipur royal family’s claim, the Mewar royalty also asserted the descent from the deity.

227 DEAD AS MONSOON WREAKS HAVOC IN SEVERAL INDIAN STATES

And before I head towards International news, a bit about the state of Monsoon and the destruction it is leaving behind.

The southwest monsoon’s trail of destruction continued to claim lives across states including West Bengal, Uttarakhand, Gujarat, Andhra Pradesh and Kerala, with at least 227 reported dead in floods, lightning, and landslides around the country.

CHINA SAYS HK PROTEST SHOWING SPROUTS OF TERRORISM

And now on to International news, China on Monday said the anti-government protests in Hong Kong, which shut down the city airport, had begun to show “sprouts of terrorism”.

The airport authority said it was working with airlines to resume flights from 6 a.m. on Tuesday, but the developments raise the stakes after a weekend of skirmishes during which both activists and police toughened their stances.

VIDEO OF RUSSIAN POLICEMAN PUNCHING FEMALE PROTESTER STIRS ANGER

Talking about resistance, Russia’s interior ministry opened an investigation Monday after a video showing a riot policeman punching a woman in the stomach during a protest for free elections went viral.

The video, which has more than 360,000 views, shows a young woman dragged by four masked policemen in riot gear, with one of them punching her in the stomach for no apparent reason. The images provoked outrage in the media and on social networks.

EBOLA NOW CURABLE

From resitance, we finally move to cures. Ebola can no longer be called an incurable disease, scientists have said, after two of four drugs being trialled in the major outbreak in the Democratic Republic of the Congo were found to have significantly reduced the death rate.
